The Pressure Is Off!!

So, it's finally here. The final day of the season where heroes and villains are made, when targets are achieved, or in turn, failed. But for the Newcastle boys the job has already well and truly been done.

If anybody is still delusional about how well the squad has done this season then a look at these facts will hopefully help you... Newcastle were favourites to get relegated from the Premier League at the start of the season. Alan Pardew was also the favourite to be the first manager sacked this season. As it is the Toon Army are guaranteed at least a 5th place finish in the league, above the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, and Pardew has picked up manager of the season in the league awards.

So what does this all mean for today's final game away at Everton? Well in fact it means a hell of a lot. Despite being back in 5th place and looking least likely to pick up a Champions League place, it's probably the best position to be in.

This campaign has been nothing short of miraculous and having already picked up European football for next season, our targets for the season have been well and truly smashed. The Magpies can go into the match at Goodison Park with the pressure totally off of their shoulders.

However, when you look at Arsenal and Tottenham it is a completely different picture. They are two teams that if they don't win, and pick up Champions League football, then it could be disastrous. If ever a team were to fall under pressure, then these are the perfect conditions for it to happen.

So it all boils down to today. Newcastle can relax and go to Everton and play their natural game knowing that whatever happens they have been heroes this season. As for Arsenal and Spurs, drop points and not only will they have to settle for the Europa League next season, but maybe wave goodbye to some of their top players as well.

One thing will be for certain though, make any sort of slip up and Pardew and his boys WILL be there to punish you!!
